From Stoltze With Love

With 2024 in the rearview mirror and the new year off to a tumultuous start, we thought what better time to send our love to our clients, colleagues, friends and family. For this newsletter, we are showcasing a number of print and digital projects that have been recently completed and added to our website.

Worcester Art Museum

Stoltze was thrilled to partner with the Worcester Art Museum for their new book, WAM 100. The handheld guide highlights 100 collection-defining artworks at the museum, with beautiful reproductions and new writing from the curatorial team. The included pieces span nearly three-and-a-half millennia, and a vast range of media, from stone, ceramic and iron, to painting, stained glass and video. Released in time for the 2024 holiday season, WAM 100 replaces a handbook that was in circulation for over 30 years. Whether through the book or by visiting in person, we highly recommend exploring WAM’s expansive collection!

Ellenzweig

Stoltze was recently engaged to redesign a website for Ellenzweig, a preeminent architectural firm focused on education and research projects. Our solution is to showcase their gorgeous project photography on a site built with asymmetric modules adhering to a gridded foundation. This allows for dynamic use of white space, while maintaining a meticulously structured yet flexible, responsive layout. The updated branding pairs their existing logo with a modified color palette and a contemporary open source font, chosen for its timeless design and legibility.

Northwestern’s McCormick School of Engineering

Northwestern Engineering leadership have spent the last year mapping out Northwestern Engineering’s future in research and education. In late spring, the school formalized its guiding strategic vision, a plan that focuses on three essential pillars that are key to pushing engineering into the next era. Stoltze Design was charged with visually depicting the strategic vision for use in assorted digital and print communications. To accomplish this we created a system of illustrations for each of the three pillars and ten strategic sub-areas, as well as a “landscape” featuring all of the graphics.

Boston Athenaeum

The Boston Athenaeum is a seamless combination of library, museum, and cultural center. An expansive renovation of the landmark building was recently completed, and it was clear the brand needed an update, too. Working closely with the Athenaeum’s team, Stoltze developed a fresh, contemporary identity system to appeal to their diverse membership that can be applied easily and consistently by everyone at the Athenaeum. It’s a modern and elegant framework that elevates the identity of this extraordinary place.

What Now? What Next?

Late last year, Stoltze Design was enlisted by Buffalo Tom front man, Bill Janovitz, to design a pair of posters for two fundraising concerts he was organizing in response to the election results. The poster for the first show in January, a benefit for the Trevor Project, featured the message “What Now?”. For the second show, a benefit for the ACLU, we used the message “What Next?”… something we ask ourselves every day now that Trump is back in office.
